Tessa Virtue Breaks Hearts, Tells Ottawa Spectator, “It’s Acting.”

A sad one here. Tessa Virtue, supposedly tired of answering more and more questions about Scott Moir, confirms to the Ottawa Spectator that with respect to her relationship with Scott Moir on the ice and what you see, “it’s acting.”

She also says that they each have other relationships off the ice, but neither discusses who exactly they are.

The silver lining is that it sounds like she and Scott Moir will continue to skate competitively next season.

Editor’s Note: Sorry I haven’t posted in a few weeks. Skating news slowed down after the World Championships. And I had some school stuff to attend to. More to come in the next few months though.

Frank Carroll Discusses Nagasu at DWTS

The Chicago Tribune had a chance to catch up with Frank Carroll before “Dancing with the Stars” last evening where he sat in the front row as a guest of Evan Lysacek.

He had some interesting things to say about Mirai Nagasu and her state at the World Championships.

“She kept telling me, `I’m scared, I’m scared, I’m scared,’ before going out on the ice for the free skate,” Carroll said, “and that’s obviously something we will have to work on.”

“All season long, we have been telling her, `skate, skate,’ when she comes out of the spread eagle and goes into the double axel, but she still had the tendency to slow down, and this time it really was costly,” Carroll said.

“Her last six programs, five of them were great,” he said.  “And 7th at your first (senior) worlds isn’t that bad.  Dorothy Hamill (the 1976 Olympic champion) was 7th in her first worlds.”

All good things and with four more years, I know we’ll be seeing some great things from Nagasu come Sochi in 2014.

CTV offers a retrospective of all of Canada’s chances in various sports in Sochi in 2014.

Some of this has already been reported by CTV but this new article offers a fresh compilation and some new additions.

Apart from the futures of Virtue and Moir, Patrick Chan, and Ashley McIvor, I’m very interested to see how Krista McCaraville and Jennifer Jones continue on as the Canadian curling team prepares for 2014.

Canada took hope the Bronze medal at the World Curling Championships.

When last we checked in, the Canucks were dominating the competition. The Canadians finished first in the round robin with a 10-1 record and then lost two straight playoff games to fall out of gold-medal contention. Germany’s Andrea Schopp beat Scotland’s Eve Muirhead 8-6 in 11 ends for gold. It was the second world title for both Germany and Schopp, who last won in 1988 in Glasgow.
